The Jazz & Heritage Center
Creating a cutting-edge space for one of America’s original art forms
When the building next door to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s longtime offices became available, the nonprofit just had to have it. The foundation -- which owns the world-famous New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival -- saw a unique vision for the beautiful space, and engaged architecture firm Eskew+Dumez+Ripple to make it real.
Having collaborated previously with EDR, Solomon Group was asked to lend its technical wizardry to The Jazz & Heritage Center.
Situated between the French Quarter and Tremé along historic Rampart Street, the facility serves as a community arts center and houses many of the foundation’s educational programs including its Heritage School of Music.
The Jazz & Heritage Center features a 200-seat multipurpose space for performances, lectures, and events, as well as seven state-of-the-art classrooms... all wired to a central control room for audio and video recording.
Working in partnership with Interstate Electronic Systems, Solomon Group provided the A/V integration services for the facility, which includes first-class audio and video systems. Large, flat screen monitors in each classroom are connected to the sophisticated system, which also provides the center's staff with webcasting capabilities for distance learning and special presentations.
Utilizing a combination of LED and conventional instruments, Solomon Group also provided all of the theatrical and architectural lighting for the center’s performance/event space.
Our team is proud to have played its part in creating a new hub of activity that celebrates one of America’s original art forms in our hometown, where it all started.
