Smoothie King Center
Outfitting an NBA arena
LED Ribbon Board
As part of a two-year renovation project, management at The Smoothie King Center decided to add a dramatic display above its grand entryway.
Solomon Group designed, programmed and installed a 10mm LED ribbon board that extends over the venue’s expanded main entrance and box office. Measuring 162-feet wide and 6-feet tall, the screen adds a dynamic, visual element to the venue’s exterior, and greets everyone who attends a concert or New Orleans Pelicans game.
Mega LED Displays
Just a few months after our new LED lighting system for the Mercedes-Benz Superdome garnered the 2012 Live Design Award for Architainment, Solomon Group brought a different kind of LED solution to its neighboring sports and event facility.
Motorists in both directions of I-10 can see the score to Pelicans games, teasers for upcoming events, and other arena information in stunning, 720P high-definition as they drive through downtown New Orleans.
The 20mm LED mega-screens -- each standing 92-feet wide and 51-feet tall -- are mounted to the venue’s exterior, interstate-facing corners. Each one is nearly the size of a basketball court, making them among the largest single screen installations for an NBA arena.
For our technophile friends, each screen covers 4,692 square feet and sports a resolution of 1408 x 768 (HD is 1280 x 720). That’s 1,081,344 pixels and over 3.2 million individual LEDs per screen.
