Final Mission: The USS Tang Submarine Experience

Turning museum visitors into virtual submariners

Ever wonder what it’s like to be part of an epic submarine battle?  Well, bring 26 of your closest friends to the National WWII Museum and find out!

Solomon Group led the technical direction, A/V integration and exhibit lighting for one of the museum’s latest immersive attractions.  “Final Mission: The USS Tang Submarine Experience” is an interactive journey in which visitors man the battle stations of actual crewmembers aboard the most successful submarine in World War II.

With six Christie Digital projectors casting 360 degrees of HD content, a captivating 36-channel soundscape, and 16 computers to generate all of the imagery and manage the 4D experience, it is one of the most technically complex attractions in the Gulf South.

During the riveting, 11-minute “war patrol” things take a surprising turn (we won’t spoil it for you!).  You’ll just have to visit the National WWII Museum yourself, and discover what happens during the final mission of the USS Tang.
