College Football Playoff
Playing a key position for a world-class sports partner
As football fans know, the 2014 season marked a handoff of sorts between the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and College Football Playoff (CFP) to determine a national champion. For CFP and ESPN, it was crucial that the events staged during championship weekend be just as exciting as the game itself.
When CFP organizers attended the record-breaking 2013 ESSENCE Festival -- which was produced by Solomon Group -- they reached out to us for help with one of their signature events.
Since the inaugural College Football Playoff, Solomon Group has provided its full array of services to produce AT&T Playoff Playlist Live!, the official concert series of CFP championship weekend. Each year, the concerts feature a variety of national recording artists, from new and popular bands, to GRAMMY-winners like Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Ciara, John Mellencamp and Usher.
In addition to design, fabrication, production, graphics and installation services for the concerts and VIP spaces, Solomon Group handles venue management, sponsorship activation, credentials, security, transportation, logistics, run of show management, scriptwriting and artist relations.
In 2016, we provided credential production and management services for all of Championship Campus. Our team designed, created and tracked over 10,000 credentials which covered four of the five, large-scale events staged for fans and VIPs. Additionally, Solomon Group provided design, fabrication and graphics for Social City, a CFP social media activation at Championship Campus that was moved to the Championship Tailgate on game day.
Solomon Group went big for its production of AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! In 2017. At 176-feet wide by 68-feet deep, our custom-designed stage was one of the largest our fabrication and production teams have ever created. To level up the audience experience, our team did something never before seen in Tampa Bay. Solomon Group projected live video onto the nearby Sykes Building, essentially transforming its enormous surface into a much larger than life IMAG display for the excited fans below. We also provided production, graphics and project management services for both College Football Playoff Team Lounges, which were staged at the Hilton Tampa Downtown (Alabama) and the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay (Clemson).
Each year, our team is challenged to turn a new venue in a different host city into a unique music festival that showcases the College Football Playoff brand. Solomon Group is proud to play a key position each year for College Football Playoff, a cultural event well on its way to reaching Super Bowl proportions.
