Transforming a Canadian amusement park into an electrifying racecourse.

Transforming a Canadian amusement park into an electrifying racecourse.

Earlier this month, Solomon Group experienced another milestone in its history.  When “The Storyteller” -- that’s one of our 18-wheelers -- crossed the Canadian border on its way to an event near Toronto, we added an international client to our roster for the first time.

The Electro Dash 5K is a nighttime footrace / dance party that’s held periodically in cities across Canada and the U.S.  Led by Production Managers Rob Kodadek and Scott Beelman, and Production Supervisor Jason Christiana, Solomon Group designed and installed a unique running experience at Canada’s Wonderland for the event.  Our crew transformed the popular amusement park into an illuminated racecourse for over 4,000 participants who turned out on Friday, September 6th to experience this luminescent race.

In order to create a dazzling environment, we drew up a plan and brought along some of our favorite pieces of technology.  If you’re interested in seeing what we used to convert an amusement park into a nighttime race / party, see below.

- 48" mirrorball suspended 100' in the air from a park ride
- 300+ LED fixtures
- 16 mirrorballs
- 1 RGB Laser
- 8 Fog Machines / 2 Hazers
- 16 Martin MH3s
- 10 Martin LC Panels
- 10 Atomic Strobes
- 12 Nexus Panels
- 12 Viper AirFX
- 4 Viper Profile
- 4 Martin M2Go consoles
- 1 Hog III Console
- 1 GrandMA 2 Light Console
- 24 Mac 101s
- 14 Mac 350s
- 1 Arkaos Media Server
- 24 ETC Ellipsoidals

In the end, Solomon Group added lighting, laser, audio and video elements to more than 224 acres of the park (requiring over 12 miles of cable) to make this after dark event an electrifying experience.

To see more of the Toronto event, check out this teaser video released by Electro Dash.

Currently, Solomon Group is working on designing the next Electro Dash 5K race, and will return to Canada in October.  Next stop for The Storyteller ... Vancouver, B.C.!
