Production Manager

Solomon Group is searching for a talented and experienced Production Manager to add to our rapidly expanding team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of production management experience that includes a variety of successful events produced in diverse environments. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

RESPONSIBILITIES
●  Overseeing the production process.
●  Drafting production schedules.
●  Coordinating load-in and load-out schedules based on the nature of the event.
●  Ensuring that productions are cost-effective by optimizing resource utilization and adjusting schedules as needed.
●  Interviewing and hiring production staff members.
●  Establishing and implementing standard operating procedures for all assigned productions.
●  Serving as liaison among different departments throughout the production period.
●  Estimating costs of production elements for a variety of shows and events.
●  Coordinating cross-rental equipment.
●  Implementing production safety procedures.
●  Ensuring that all of the above processes result in a seamless hand-off of the individual production elements over to the operations side of the shows and events.

REQUIREMENTS
●  Extensive technical knowledge of lighting, video, LED and audio systems.
●  The ability to effectively lead and motivate a crew on-site.
●  Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
●  Superb interpersonal skills.
●  The experience and ability to create and manage production budgets.

Travel Coordinator

Solomon Group is seeking an organized and enthusiastic Travel Coordinator to focus on travel logistics and act as a purchasing agent for the company. This person will liaise with all departments on a daily basis, including production, fabrication, technology, and administration. The individual in this role will primarily book and track flights, rental cars, weekly per diem and hotel reservations. This is a full-time, entry-level position based at our office headquarters in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana.

RESPONSIBILITIES
●  Booking weekly travel through approved vendors for company-wide travel, often quickly and in large volume.
●  Keeping track of company travel by relevant job, project, department, etc., via Google Drive, company email, Slack, or our internal management system.
●  Tracking any billing expenses related to travel and expensing efficiently.
●  Troubleshooting issues that arise daily (i.e. missed flight, change of schedule) and assisting with solutions.
●  Making travel itineraries and distributing via email, Google Calendar, etc.
●  Working with project managers and various staff members to determine best options for travel.
●  Coordinating with the accounting team to ensure diligent processing of credit card reports.
●  Performing other administrative duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
●  Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum 1+ year(s) of relevant professional experience, or a commensurate combination of education, training and experience, is required.
●  Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Mac, Google Apps for Business and MS Office.

OBJECTIVES:
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the growth and performance of the company through oversight and direction of the Finance, Human Resources, Administration and Risk Management departments.  This executive role is tasked with management of staff in each of these departments and provides strategic and operational direction to improve the company’s practices in each.

With a small accounting team, the CFO collects, monitors and analyzes data to ensure the financial success of client projects, and creates and executes initiatives to improve profitability.  Through direct supervision by the President, and collaboration with Owners, the CFO is responsible for the development of personnel and procedures that meet the profitability demands of our high-speed, growth oriented company as we execute complex creative projects across the United States.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategic

·       Provide leadership in the planning, evaluation and execution of company’s future initiatives in other markets or service areas

·       Develop and monitor programs for increased profitability with company’s current operations and offerings

·       Plan for capital expenditures related to growth opportunities

·       Develop performance measures to monitor key metrics related to company health

Financial

·       Oversee and direct the work of Company’s three person accounting team and functions (A/P, A/R and Payroll)

·       Create forecasts with regular frequency to project company trends

·       Develop tools to monitor and directly manage cash flow

·       Develop and implement budgets company-wide to ensure profitability in accordance with company growth plans

·       Compile, monitor and report on job cost and project performance and provide actionable recommendations in event of variances

·       Ensure that all controls are in place to comply with applicable laws, taxation authorities, and rules for reporting

·       Overall responsibility for accurate and timely reporting of all financial functions

Human Resources

·       Oversee and direct the work of the Company’s Human Resources Manager

·       Ensure compliance with all legal employer regulations and HR best practices

·       Oversee successful management and implementation of employee benefits programs

·       Supervise the development of programs to recruit top talent and foster a culture of continuous improvement

Administration + Risk Management

·       Directly manage the work of the Business Affairs Manager and Office Manager

·       Oversee negotiation of new agreements and the administration of existing contracts

·       Oversee and direct risk management practices, insurance programs and loss prevention methods

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The Chief Financial Officer candidate should have at least 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, including a minimum of five years in an executive role.  Preference is given to candidates who possess a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) and/or a professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA).

Systems Designer/Drafter

Solomon Group is looking for an experienced, technically savvy Systems Designer/Drafter to join our team.  This individual will work in our Technology department with our permanent installations, live events, and special systems teams to implement state-of-the-art AV hardware solutions for our projects.  This can include everything from sound, lighting, projection, LED, control and video solutions.

The ideal candidate will have three (3) years integration and installation AV experience with a variety of successful projects in diverse environments including museums and/or attractions, and be well versed in AutoCAD and/or a similar CAD program.

RESPONSIBILITIES
●  Developing designs for AV Hardware systems and their interconnectivity.
●  AutoCAD drafting to include rack elevations, one-line drawings, and low voltage cabling drawings.  Exporting professional quality paperwork for both client review/approval and internal use.
●  Consulting with and working with internal fabrication technical design department on integrated systems within fabricated structures including coordinating cable chases, sizing of display devices, speakers and other devices integrated into fabricated structures.
●  Consulting with and working with external project architects on coordination of 3rd party trades including general trades and electrical contractors and providing documentation appropriate to such.
●  Assisting in responding to RFPs including updating pricing matrixes and bid forms as needed.
●  Establishing and implementing standard operating procedures for all assigned projects as it relates to all drafting and drawings for AV systems.
●  Serving as liaison among different departments throughout projects and ensuring all parties have the most up to date drawings to work from.

Master Millwork

Solomon Group is always on the lookout for motivated, talented individuals to join our fabrication team.  

We’re currently hiring Master Millwork staff to work in our growing fabrication shop.  These are hourly positions based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The right candidates must possess all of the skills required of our Level 3 Carpenters PLUS the highest knowledge of the carpentry craft including wood selection, acclimating, processing, and milling to create high-end, permanently installed custom fixtures and furnishings and architectural millwork.

Fabrication Shop Assistant (Part-time)

Installation Technician (Part-time)

Solomon Group is currently hiring Installation Technicians to work with the skilled team in our Technology Department.  These are part-time (day and evening shifts) positions based in New Orleans, Louisiana.  

Our Installation Technicians are responsible for the installation and support of complex audiovisual and lighting systems in a variety of customer environments.  We’re searching for candidates with the skills and abilities to install, troubleshoot, and service audiovisual and lighting equipment.  Most work is performed 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, with the potential for some evening and weekend hours and occasional overnight travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Perform comprehensive, on-site, AV/LX equipment installation for our clients, including low voltage wiring, trim-out, equipment rack setup, LCD displays, projectors and projection systems, media rooms, audio hardware and speakers, and control systems.        
● Perform cable pull paths; assess structural/room interior for efficient and optimum installations; crimp and terminate audio and video cables.    
● Assist with structural installation of displays, screens, and projectors.

● Travel to off-site, corporate locations as part of system installation.
● Participate in industry training sessions, seminars, and conventions.

REQUIREMENTS
● Able to read/interpret schematics and drawings.
● Able to use and work with ladders.
● High school diploma or GED. A formal education in electronics or related field from a trade school is preferred.
● Able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and work within varied conditions, some which may be small or confined.
● Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
● Flexibility to travel and/or work overtime as necessary.
● Able to work independently or as part of a busy, productive crew to install and troubleshoot AV/LX systems.
● Proficiency with construction techniques and structured cabling.
● Able to wire/terminate low voltage and Cat 5 cables.
● Able to safely use hand and power tools.
● Able to solder and crimp connectors.
● Commitment to work within specified deadlines and provide daily field updates.
● Excellent organizational skills and the desire to work for a professional company.
● CTS certification is a PLUS.
● Commercial/residential experience a PLUS.

Technical Designer (Live Events)

Solomon Group is looking for an experienced Technical Designer for Live Events to add to our growing Fabrication Department. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The individual in this position will report directly to the Fabrication Department’s Senior Technical Designer | Live Events.

RESPONSIBILITIES
●  Create production-ready drawings for use by in-house carpenters, welders and other craftsmen.
●  Annotate and dimension provided drawings.
●  Find and present research material to assist with construction.
●  Help to organize shared digital drawing files.
●  Produce cut ready files for CNC operators.
●  Adapt/create/adjust drawings in collaboration with project managers.
●  Conduct site visits to gather measurements when necessary
●  Generally assist the Senior Technical Designer | Live Events in communicating clear, accurate information to shop floor.

REQUIREMENTS
●  Strong visual and verbal communication and organization skills.
●  Proficiency with AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and SketchUp, as well as other CAD programs such as VectorWorks, Revit and Rhino. Grasshopper experience is a plus.
●  Experience in live performance and/or broadcast scenic environment design and fabrication         techniques.
●  Experience working with a wide range of materials including wood, acrylic, aluminum, steel, composites and laminates.
●  The ability to maintain an even temper under tight turnaround times and stressful conditions.
●  Previous fabrication experience a plus.
●  A valid driver’s license.

Scenic Artist (Part-time)

Solomon Group is looking for a Scenic Artist to add to its expanding Fabrication Department.  This is a part-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The individual in this position will report to both the Scenic Department Foreman and the Assistant Fabrication Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
Level 1

● Experience with paint prepping techniques including finish sanding, bondo / filling, etc.
● Experience with Latex paints. Faux finish work is a PLUS.
● Willingness to learn and practice new finishing techniques.
● Positive attitude and good communication skills.

Level 2
ALL OF THE LEVEL 1 CRITERIA PLUS THE FOLLOWING:
● Faux finish experience.  Commercial grade finishes are a PLUS.
● Experience with various materials including wood, acrylic, foam and aluminum.
● Ability to work on a team without constant supervision.
● Eye for detail.  We produce high quality products quickly.
● Problem solving skills.

Level 3
ALL OF LEVEL 1 AND 2 CRITERIA PLUS THE FOLLOWING:
● Experience with HVLP spraying systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CNC Operator I (Part-Time)

Solomon Group is seeking a talented CNC Operator (Level 1). A CNC Operator I produces finished parts from a variety of materials including wood, non-ferrous metals, and plastics. The ideal candidate thrives in a deadline-driven environment and has the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting with fluctuating demands.  This is a part-time position in New Orleans, Louisiana.

RESPONSIBILITIES
∙ Intermediate setup of multiple CNC routers.  
∙ Load and unload various sheet goods including wood, aluminum and plastics up to 50 lbs.
∙ Maintain a clean and safe work area.
∙ Inspect / clean tools and machinery daily.
∙ Uphold quality standards and report inconsistency to shift supervisor.
∙ Respond to priorities efficiently as they change throughout the shift.
∙ Quality check all material for defects before initiating the cutting sequence and report concerns to shift supervisor.
∙ Label / organize finished parts according to project and release them to the appropriate department.

QUALIFICATIONS
∙ 1-2 years of CNC operator experience or a technical studies degree.  
∙ Intermediate setup of multiple CNC routers with some supervision.
∙ High attention to detail with the ability to work both independently or with a team.
∙ Must be punctual and flexible to changing shift demands.
∙ Ability to work night shift / weekend and some holidays when required is a PLUS.   
∙ Computer literate and proficiency in math. (geometry / trigonometry)

Production Designer

Solomon Group is looking for a talented and versatile Production Designer to add to our expanding team.  This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

We’re looking for someone with 3+ years experience as a production designer/scenic designer/rendering artist with a portfolio boasting event, brand activation, broadcast, attractions and architainment projects.

The ideal candidate for this position MUST have:

  • A high level of motivation and creativity, along with a deep knowledge of production design and rendering;
  • Comfort both initiating and developing ideas;
  • The capability to own a production’s design from conception through 3D modeling/rendering and construction documentation;
  • Adeptness at taking a collaborator’s design concept and improving, rendering and detailing it;
  • The ability to demonstrate smart environment ideas that integrate lighting, video projection and/or LED display technology into dynamic scenic elements;
  • Knowledge of the design programs needed to liaise with our fabrication shop and sales team, including SketchUp, AutoCAD and Photoshop;
  • Thorough knowledge of Mac computers and OS, printers, external drives and servers, but also knows his/her way around a PC;
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to manage working on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • An ability to maintain an even temper under tight deadlines and stressful conditions;
  • The leadership skills to supervise design assistants on occasion;

Bonus points will be given to candidates having knowledge of fabrication, CNC routing and large-format graphics printing software.

Warehouse Assistant (Part-time)

Solomon Group is currently hiring Warehouse Assistants to support our Operations Department with the accurate shipping and receiving of all show materials.  These are entry-level positions that will report to our Warehouse Supervisor.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Pulling and prepping show materials;
• Assisting with shop maintenance and cleaning;
• Running simple errands such as pickups from vendors and deliveries to workers on site in the New Orleans area;
• Preparing production elements for shipping;
• Loading and unloading equipment from trucks, both at the warehouse and on site.

Ideal candidates must have:
• The ability to lift up to 75 lbs;
• A clean driving record (Class D license a plus);
• Ability to work a flexible schedule;
• Forklift experience (preferred);
• A positive, can-do attitude and the eagerness to be part of a busy, productive team;
• The desire to learn from experienced technicians.

Compensation
This position is part-time / temporary and pays at a rate of $12.00/hr.
